Besides being really beautiful, Torch Lake also offers lots of activities that will keep you very busy in this piece of paradise. An added bonus is the fact that the lake is just one part of the chain of lakes in the Elk River Chain of Lakes Watershed, the 75-mile waterway that includes 14 rivers and lakes in the Lower Peninsula.
What is the best way to enjoy the crystal clear waters of the lake? By swimming and snorkeling, of course, which are some of the best experiences in these waters where you can see your toes. Keep in mind though that this is not a beach lake, and if you want a better beach day, the nearby Lake Michigan is the best bet.
Water sports, including motorized sports, are of course also very popular here, and the lake is a perfect spot for waterskiing, canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, windsurfing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, and more. The big length of the lake allows for straight shots for miles, and you will not need to keep circling. Other popular activities include fishing and hiking.
Torch Lake is famous for its sandbar parties, but this doesn’t mean it’s not also family-friendly. As a matter of fact, the lake is great for family trips, as the towns that surround it are safe and beautiful. Bring your kids and walk around the streets, shops, and go to some great restaurants in the area.
