Created by local brothers, Keith and Eric Kolver, Secret Spot Hot Tubs is just a stone’s throw away from Rotorua. Hidden in the Waipa Valley next to the mighty Whakarewarewa Forest, Secret Spot is in the heart of New Zealand’s mountain biking mecca.
Your experience starts as soon as you walk through our doors, under the waterfall at the entrance. Relax in fresh spring water in your own personal cedar hot tub, overlooking the forest and river. Our special Enviro Swim treatment means our water is pure and easy on the skin, with no strong chlorine odors. You can also enjoy a Good George craft beer or cider, a Mills Reef wine, or indulge in a freshly brewed Manuka coffee or premium soda delivered to your tub while you soak.
Tired feet from a big day? Enjoy Secret Spot’s FREE ‘Shinny Dip’ foot soak with any drink purchase – no bookings required! You can also grab a quick bite to eat or relax in our ‘Eddy Out’ chill zone. Dogs are also welcome! Nestled amongst ferns and streams, the Secret Spot is full of surprises. Explore our swing bridges, campfires and flaming boulders, as well as native birdsong to complete your forest experience.
Secret Spot was the creation of brothers Keith and Eric while they canoed a remote New Zealand river in a storm. Dreaming of sipping hot drinks in a hot tub spurred them on through the freezing weather. They often stopped for a thermal swim after their adventures and in October 2019, they decided to build their very own ‘secret spot’ for others to enjoy.

Refunds/cancelations
Bookings can be rescheduled up to 4 hours before your reservation, but cancellation requires 12 hours’ notice to receive a full refund.

Please bring your swimwear and towel (or these can be hired at reception for $5.00ea).
You can enjoy a beverage in the hot tub.
Arrive 15minutes early for sign in and changing.

Secret Spot Hot Tubs Rotorua is a 2-minute drive south of Rotorua on State Highway 5, turn left down Waipa State Mill Road for 100m, then turn left into the Waipa Mountain Bike Carpark. Secret Spot is located between the carpark and the stream with a waterfall flowing off our building’s roof!
